We Belong

We Belong is an arts enrichment programme building a supportive community and creative platform to empower young people in care.

The workshop aimed to introduce the group of young people to architectural design focusing on self-care spaces. Reflecting on Pitzhanger Manor (the workshops location) recent conservation and restoration, the young people learnt about the maintenance and care of the building has created a new public uses that enrich the local community. Through a series of group and individual hands-on activities of various different scales and mediums, the young people explored.… and discussed the spaces they care about, what they value in these spaces and how we can look after them to ensure they are sustained.

The final activity involved imagining a different use for Pitzhanger Manor that is meaningful to them. The result was a series of models including a community art centre, learning facility, nature reserve and communication sculpture.
